We spent last week talking about being aware of limitations. One of the best ways to build toward overcoming those in a healthy ways is making sure support is always around the corner. Whether that’s through yourself or others, having support can allow you to feel more stable, provide tools to work through tough spots, and give comfort at failures.

Monday October 27th
What is a way that you supported yourself in the past?
Was it effective? Would you do it again? Will you?
What did you learn from it? About yourself or how you process things? How will that help you support yourself better in the future?
Tuesday October 28th
What do you need support with most right now?
Maybe you just need to give yourself designated time to work, or create space to do it in. Maybe you need a reward system for creating new habits or a way to track progress.
In what ways will the support help you? Why is that? How?
Wednesday October 29th
How will you give support to yourself?
Now that you know where you need support, what are your plans to provide it? Do you need to set aside money? Time? Space? Can you afford it?
Is your current vision feasible? Why or why not?
Do you need outside support to make it happen? Is research needed? If so, where will you for that?
Thursday October 30th
How will you maintain your support?
You know what you need and you have a plan to get it, but how do you guarantee it lasts?
Do you need to create new routines? What are those routines? Are you motivated to follow through on them?
Do you need outside help? Are they aware and willing? How will you ask?
Do you need a recurring journal entry for checking in? What questions must you answer? Why?
Friday October 31st
Who else supports you?
We’ve touched a bit on outside help to aid you in supporting yourself, but who else is there for you?
How are they doing it? Why?
Have you spoken with them about it? Should you?
Do you support them in return? How?
Saturday November 1st
What are the dangers of leaning too heavily on support?
How much can your support network sustain? How does it recover from use? Have you ever over-used it in the past? How?
In what ways does your support potentially slow down your progress? How? How will you avoid that?
Sunday November 2nd
What are the benefits of supporting yourself?
Does it increase motivation? Allow more room for setbacks? Speed up progress?
All of the above? Why? How?
How do you want it to benefit you? What do you need to do make sure that happens?
Supporting yourself is a decision you have to make time and time again, but it’s worth it. Setting up systems to do it can be exhausting but will give many benefits. It’s best to parse through it all now than later.
Hopefully you have a better understanding of the ways in which you need support and the ways in which you’ll make it happen.
