We spent last week working on reachable goals. One of the things that defines that is our limitations.

Limitations are inevitable. There will always be walls in our way, whether they be mental, emotional or physical. Knowing they are there is an important aspect of self-awareness and mental wellness.

Knowing your limitations allows you to have a better understanding of how to move forward the best you can. Knowing your limitations is not meant to be a negative, but rather something of an inspiration.

So, let’s look at them!

Monday October 20th

Define what a limitation is.

This is meant to be a general definition, we’ll get into specifics later on in the prompts.

Can they be from outside or inside? Both? Why?

Can they be changeable or static? Why?

Can they be painful or hurtful? How? Do they have to be?

Tuesday October 21st

What is something in the past that made you hit a limit?

This can be mental, physical, or emotional.

What limit did you hit? When? How? Why?

Is that limit still there today? Why or why not?

How did it make you feel? What did you do? Would you change that?

Wednesday October 22nd

What is something you want to do now but are limited on?

How or why is that?

Can you change that? Why or why not? Should it be changed? Why or why not?

Have you come to terms with that? Why or why not?

Is there something you can do to come terms with it?

Thursday October 23rd

What will you do instead of hitting a limit?

There are a lot of ways to go about this. Change the goal? Adjust the limit? Is the limit self or outside imposed? Can you change that? Should you? Do you want to?

How important is it to you?

Do you think things will change in the future?

Friday October 24th

Why is hitting a limit hard?

Sometimes limits aren’t fixable or shouldn’t be. Why is that? What are some limits in your life that shouldn’t be changed?

Why is hitting a limit okay? What will you gain from accepting so? What will you lose?

Saturday October 25th

What will accepting limits do for you?

Will it bring you peace or stress? Why? Are there steps you can take to focus on the first and not the second?

How will accepting limits aid you in reaching your goals? What are the potential negatives? Why is that?

Sunday October 26th

How will you check in with yourself about your limits?

How will you track your progress? What criteria will you use? How often will you check in?

How will you guarantee to not over or under sell yourself in your evaluation?

Will you share your thoughts with others? How? Why or why not?

The evaluation of limits isn’t supposed to be a way to tear yourself down or become depressed about your situation. It’s a way to set yourself up for success despite everything standing in your way. The only thing worse than hitting a limit is doing so unknowingly and doing damage to yourself in the process.

Limits are inevitable. So are you. Make sure to work around them or through them in a safe and healthy way.
